Common questions.

Do I need to enter all my costs before the app is useful?

No. On install, the app runs a coverage audit and shows you exactly how many products have cost data vs. how many are missing. You can start with your top 10 products by revenue and work from there. The app filters to "missing costs only" to help you prioritize.

If I already have costs in Shopify, do I need to re-enter them?

No. We read your existing cost_per_item data on install. If you've already filled in costs in Shopify Admin → Products → Inventory → Cost per item, they're already in the app on day one.

How does the AI analysis work?

Click "Get AI Insights" on the dashboard and Claude AI analyzes your margin data, discount patterns, and expense impact. It returns 3–5 specific, actionable recommendations — things like "your top 3 products generate 72% of profit" or "discount code X is cutting margins to 12%." You can check off recommendations as you complete them to track your progress.

What are the "smart insights"?

These are always-on pattern detections that run every time you load the dashboard — no setup needed. They detect things like margin trends, profit concentration risk, discount effectiveness, and expense impact. Think of them as automated alerts that surface problems before they become expensive.

What happens to historical data if I update a product's cost?

Nothing — historical orders are protected. When an order is placed, we lock the cost at that moment. Future cost changes only affect new orders. Your historical margin data stays accurate.
